Rare print after the painting by Allen Sealy (landscape and Charles Spencelayh figures). Signed in pencil to margin by both artists, also copyright requested marked in pencil. Here we see more than 60 members and their wives watching two competitors on the old 18 th green. In the background can be seen the old farmhouse (Clubhouse), the starter's hut and the two barns, one of which became the Professional's shop. Just visible is the top of the tower of St Clement 's Church, Sandwich , from which Dr William Laidlaw Purves (founder of the Club) first espied the links. |
