Size with frame: 2x2.5 in
Colonel John Home Purves (1816-1867) was Equerry and Comptroller of the Household to HRH the Duchess of Cambridge. The stamp ‘Invergarry’ on the sheet refers to a part of the Ellice’s estate and the drawing formed part of a group of studies made by Landseer when he was staying at his hunting lodge, Glenquoich.
